Where I'm Calling From

« Previous Main Next »
April 29th, 2007. Off 15th Street. Philadelphia, PA.
This is an older photo that will always be interesting to me. I am working on a series of alleyway photos from Philly and various other cities. I was out with my fiance, Katie, when I glanced down this alley. Not wanting to hold her up, I quickly composed the photo and shot, then kept walking. A few blocks later I looked at the photo only to realize that I had the shutter speed set way too high for the somewhat shadowy alleyway, and the photo was completely dark. I thought all was lost, but was somehow able to raise the levels and tweak the exposure enough to rescue it. I then softened the focus a bit to give the colors a little aura and it ended up coming out ok. It is still one of Katie's favorite photos of mine for some reason.
